We often get asked about our views on what is usually marketed as vegan leather, and we often reply it's a complicated lovestory.
You see, there are a bunch of vegan leather alternatives out there that feel cheap, are non-durable, non-breathable and are really bad for the environment. This is the old type of vegan leather which used to be called PU leather or pleather - basically plastic that is both toxic and non-biodegradable. Unfortunately, this is still the most common type of leather alternative out there.
But there are so much better alternatives! Because yes, there are other ways of imitating leather. Recently both scientists and farmers have began to refine ancient methods of using mushrooms and plants as main ingredients in fabric that very much resembles the leather surface, with much of its functionality being replicated as well. Our favorite at the moment is cactus leather.
We are proud to present our very first capsule collection made entirely from Cactus Vegan Leather. The line consists of unisex sets of jackets and pants, accompanied with smaller accessories. All for a better world.
